Current Information:Born-Walthamstow Calvaire (Essex) Military Cemetery, Belgium
On 4th March, 1915, the 2nd Essex battalion of 12 Brigade, 4th Division moved into trenches near Ploegsteert, in Belgium where they remained until relieved on 8th March. On 6th March, the enemy fired a number of rounds from a gun which the battalion diary referred to as “Little Willie” at their positions without doing much damage but which probably killed Bertie Kay, who lost his life on that day. |
